Up for auction is a 2007 Gibson faded Les Paul Studio with modifications. The original weight relieved design mahogany body with a solid mahogany cap.
I really didn't like the original finish, which was rough sanded and stained a crap brown color, literally washing out the grain of the mahogany. So, I stripped the whole guitar down to the bare wood and started over. I sanded up to 600 grit, and then applied a hand rubbed tung oil finish. I put on 5 coats, sanding lightly between each. This has brought out the beautiful grain of the mahogany, and has left the guitar with a smooth, but durable, satin finish.
Next, I pulled the original Burstbucker Pro's and installed an original Gibson 57 Classic in the neck and a Gibson 57 Classic Plus at the bridge. I also shielded the pot cavity against unwanted noise usually produced by the garbage electrical and lighting systems in bars and other venues, and also replaced the stock capacitors with a Sprague oil and paper Viatmin Q in the neck tone pot for an ultra smooth tone and an original bumble bee in the bridge for that classic Les Paul bite.
I then replaced the god awful stock tuners with brand new sealed Grovers, lemon oiled the entire fretboard, filed some sharp fret ends and set the whole thing up with GHS Boomers 91/2 through 44's. I replaced the original pick guard with a custom made wood American Flag pickguard, and I'll include the original should you want to put it back on.
The action is low and smooth, frets are perfect, no breaks, dings, scratches or buckle rash.
A great guitar, but I just have too many and I'm starting two new projects, so, this one has to be moved out.
Guitar comes with a new Musician's Friend gig bag.
Will only ship to continental US. No international shipping. Flat rate of $45 insured.
Any questions, please ask prior to bidding.
Good luck!
