Gibson Les Paul Studio

Up for bid is a 2006 Gibson Les Paul Studio in ebony solidbody electric guitar.  The condition is decent. The body is not chambered. I am the original owner, I bought it new, and put it under a bed for about three years. Then I got it back out and started working on the tone a bit. This guitar is a player and is modified. First off, the pots are CTS, the cap is a 0.47 uf Orange Drop and the Switch is a prewired Switchcraft. The only element left untouched is the jack. The pickups are fantastic Rio Grande - a Texas Humbucker in the neck position and a BBQ Humbucker in the bridge position with conventional wiring. The HB's are two conductor types in burnished nickel covers. This is a Texas Rockin' Machine. The action is low and the playability is fine. The neck is straight and the frets unworn. It was never in an accident, except the minor finish fire as noted below.

The problems lie solely with the finish and I have tried to show all in the photos. There is a mar like a frost heave on the highway extending aft from the controls. This resulted from solder flux running under the finish the first time I tried to change the pots. I was using a soldering torch and there are a couple of burn marks on the back near the control cavity. Yes, the first time did not go well, but I started anew with fresh components and a bit of study and practice away from the LP. I switched to a Weller soldering gun and the second time was a charm with a great install and tone aplenty as a result.  This is what I call a Hi-Fi guitar. Super pickups and super electronics make for an open, complex tone with full note bloom and serious note discretion.

 The original Gibson hard case is included and has only minor wear, if any.

 Yes, this is a player with some finish flaws, but what a player it is. I am selling because I am really a Strat man and am giving up a Gibson or two for more Strat action.

You may need to set the action, intonation, replace old strings and do other minor maintenance. Please make sure that this is the right guitar for you. I do not accept returns simply because you do not like the guitar.
